Bhimsaria Group entered the Cement industry in 2011, via Shivam Cements. It was a historical milestone in the group’s efforts of diversification and manufacturing. The growing consumption of cement in Nepal and the rapid development happening was the perfect opportunity to provide Nepal with a reputable brand of cement, which originated from Nepal itself. Earlier, due to a lack of supply of quality cement in the local market, cement was imported into Nepal from foreign nations. Shivam Cement then took it as its prime goal to produce international quality cement in Nepal, using Nepali raw materials and limestone. It proved to be a boon for the Nepali Economy by reducing the trade deficit of imports and helping Nepal become self-sustaining for this construction material. Bhimsaria Group is the third largest shareholder in Shivam Cements Ltd.
Shivam Cement was founded in the year 2003. It began commercial production from the year 2011 and is the largest manufacturing Greenfield project in Nepal. It is currently producing 3000 TPD cement and 1900 TPD clinker from the company’s self-owned limestone quarries. With a broad vision of the business, Shivam Cement Private Limited was converted into a Public Limited Company in the year 2015 to provide its customers and the stakeholders to be a part of the company.
Established with a vision to provide quality OPC cement to the Nepalese market which was sustained over the imported cement from India, Shivam cement took the initiative to explore the Nepalese limestone for manufacturing of international quality cement in Nepal and began the journey with the manufacturing of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) 43 Grade cement in Nepal and subsequently added OPC 53 Grade Cement.
The efforts of Shivam Cement have laid the foundation for quality production of cement in Nepal and helped in reducing imports from other countries, which is a big boon to the Nepalese economy. In a very short span of production time, it stood as the market leader and was taken as the most potential company and fast-growing company in Nepal.
Shivam Cements Limited Manufacturing Facilities is situated at the industrial hub of Hetauda, where rapid infrastructural development has been witnessed over the years. Shivam cement has invested largely in the capital, human resources, production processes, infrastructures, etc. making it one of the largest cement manufacturing plants in Nepal. With access to self-owned superior quality limestone deposits, Shivam cement contains high-grade lime content that gives the utmost strength. Other features of this limestone are low alkali, magnesia and chloride contents, which are highly desirable parameters for concrete durability. The art technology adopted by the company at the plant consists of famous European standard German technology & Denmark technology for grinding cement to achieve the fineness and controlled particle size distribution of cement particles. All the plant equipment used by our company is designed and supplied by M/s Thyssen-Krupp industries Ltd, FLSMIDTH, ABB, and Siemens. The digital control system is used for the kiln and cement mill to ensure prompt corrective response through the computer-based control system. Our European technology for cement production guarantees superior quality and makes every pack to be a class apart and one of the consistent and best qualities provided. Our company has also invested heavily in pollution control equipment and is devoted to a dust/smoke-free clean and green environment. Our major products support today’s sustainable construction for future generations.
With a vision to expand and grow, the company took initiative for the first FDI in the Cement industry and invited Hongshi Group of China and started a new company with over 70% and 30% stake between Hongshi Cements China and Shivam Holding Private Limited (Subsidiary of Shivam Cements Limited) to form a new Joint Venture company as Hongshi Shivam Cement Private Limited with its production capacity of 6000 TPD Cement & Clinker. This plant has already come into operation in the year 2018 and is situated in Sardi, Nawalparasi. It is the largest cement plant in Nepal.
With Hongshi Shivam Cements, this was the second manufacturing plant in which Bhimsaria Group is involved with.
Compared to any other cement industry in Nepal, Hongshi is built with the largest attention to sustainability and a long-term vision to serve the Nepali Economy. It uses state-of-the-art equipment and the best quality limestones from a self-owned mine which is only around 20 km away from the factory. Using Economies of Scale, it is able to get the best products in the Nepali market to consumers with the highest level of satisfaction.
Hongshi Shivam Cements also uses the best energy-saving technology, where it runs a small energy unit from the waste energy and fumes that the kiln produces, which in turn produces more than 6MW of electricity, causing the energy load to be bought from the grid to be lower, further reducing cost and saving the environment.
